Tour for the naturalist

Destination covered: Antananarivo - Vohimana - Antsirabe - Masiakampy - Bekopaka - Morondava - Antananarivo - Maroantsetra - Antananarivo - Nosy Be – Antananarivo. Tour duration: 17 days/16 nights

Arriving at Ivato international airport, clear customs and meet Travel with Options representative for transfer to the Villa Iarivo (midrange) or Tana Hotel (top) for overnight.

After breakfast, morning drive toward the national route R7, through the high plateau’s landscape: mountains and ricefield scenery.Visit the surrounding: Lake Tritriva, Lake Andraikiba and the workshop of semi and precious stones. Overnight at Soa Guest house (midrange) or Plumeria (top).

Drive from Antsirabe to the village of  Manandona and start  the trekking from Manandona to Mount Ibity with half an hour stop at the waterfall, return to Manandona and continue to Ambositra , overnight at hotel l’Artisan (midrange) or Hotel Violette (midrange).

This day, we leave Ambositra and our destination is to get to Ranomafana National Park; arriving there, half hour stops at Namorona waterfall. The park is home of the famous Golden Bamboo lemur, the Greater Bamboo lemur. You can have a nice walk in the village or just relax at the hot-spring swimming pool.Overnight at the hotel Centrest (high midrange), Setam Lodge (top)

Whole day visit in the park , just after breakfast, mild walk to the forest to see the Golden Bamboo lemur, Greater Bamboo lemur and many species of birds. After the visit drive to Sahambavy, overnight at Lac hotel (midrange)

Leave Ranomafana to Andringitra, the National Park of Andringitra is located in the South East of Ambalavao.. The nature, traditions and mystery surrounding Andringitra have made this Park a mystical and a panoramic place to discover. The Park covers 31,160 ha. Perched on the heights, its altitude varies between 650 and 2658 m.It counts seven species of crustaceans, 205 species of bugs, 78 species of amphibian, 50 species of reptiles, 54 species of mammals (lemurs, carnivorous, bats…) and 106 species of birds. Andringitra is one of most attractive park because it has fabulous landscape form of rock hills with such lovely waterfalls and beautiful plants.Go trekking up until you reach the peak Bobby, the second highest peak in Madagascar.Some 1,000 plant species are known within the National Park of Andringitra.Camping (full board) during two nights.Gite Lodge (Cottage) one night (full board).

Drive from Andringitra to Ranohira (Isalo National Park).The National Park of Isalo is covered of 81 540 hectare with eroded Jurassic sandstone massif.Isalo‘s topography is characterized by alternating flat grassy plains and sandstone ridges, sculpted by wind and water into fanciful shapes. Overnight at Hotel Les Toiles de l’Isalo (midrange) or at Relais de la Reine(top)

Walk from the monkey canyon to Namaza. The animals of the Isalo are typical of the climate with vegetation and the geomorphology of the park. These are for a very strong majority of the endemic species. 77 species of birds live in Isalo among which the Benson rock-thrush Pseudocossyphus bensoni, an endemic species of Madagascar that is well protected. We can also find 14 species of nocturnal lemurs, 8 of which are introduced and seven endemic to Madagascar. Reptilian, amphibian, carnivores, insectivorous and gnawing completes the list. Ranohira - Tuléar is 255 km. Long drive toward the western capital of the Vezo fishing people. Along the way, just right after the Zombitse, on your way, you will see the fantastic baobabs that can be used as water reservoir for the inhabitants. Between Tulear and Sakaraha is the famous big Mahafaly tombs, these are particularly interesting because of the sceneries representing the daily life of the deceased. Arrive in Tuléar continue to Ifaty  Overnight at Chez Cécile (midrange) hotel Ifaty Beach Club (top) (the activities are extra here , so you can choose to relax on the beach or go for diving or visit Reniala reserve ).

Take a flight in the morning to get back to Tana, on arrival,check in for the flight back to abroad.
